Obituary of Beatrice Geraldine MacKay

Beatrice Geraldine MacKay of Saint John, wife of the late Lorne MacKay, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2009 at Rocmaura Nursing Home in her 101st year. Beatrice was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 20, 1908, and retired from the Dietary Department of the Provincial Hospital. Beatrice is survived by four children, Shirley O’Leary of Saint John, Ann Sullivan (Bill) of Saint John, Donald MacKay (Judy) of Ottawa, Ontario, and Dr. Michael MacKay (Judy) of Edmonton, Alberta; a daughter-in-law, Barbara MacKay of Sackville, New Brunswick; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Beatrice was predeceased by her son, Lorne Jr., and son-in-law Donald O’Leary. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Rocmaura Nursing Home or St. Pius X Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
