Obituary of Margaret Joan Corbin

Corbin, Margaret “Marg” Joan – The death of Margaret Joan (Templeton) (né Nodwell) Corbin of Saint John, companion of the late Lloyd Kay, occurred on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 12, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William Percival and Margaret (Spragg) Nodwell. Always a strong and independent person Marg dedicated her life to the community. She taught school for 32 years, 29 spent at Rothesay Junior High School. As an active member of the Jervis Bay Legion Ladies Auxillary she gave many hours to the Legion sponsored Leadership Camps, the Poppy Campaign and other Legion activities. Many years ago she began coaching minor basketball. She moved on to an administrative role both at the Provincial and National levels and was instrumental in bringing minor basketball to the Kennebecasis Valley. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Pitts (Richard) of Saint John; a son, John Templeton of Edmonton, AB; four grandchildren, Maggie and David Pitts, and Tara and Erik Templeton; a niece and several nephews. She was predeceased by her companion, Lloyd Kay; three brothers, Joseph, Murray and William (Bill) and a sister Grace Bradley. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At Marg’s request there will not be any visiting. A small family memorial will follow cremation. Remembrances may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John.
