Obituary of Richard B. Appleby

Appleby, Richard B. … The death of Richard Brian Appleby, of Saint John, NB, occurred on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of Beverly G. and the late Irene M. (Lynch) Appleby. Rick retired from NB Tel in 2000 and was most recently employed with Resolve. Rick was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Past President of the Y’s Men’s Club, Past Commodore of the Martinon Yacht Club and a member of the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club. He was an avid sailor; his proudest accomplishment in sailing was winning a Bronze Medal in the 1977 Canada Summer Games with his cousin Bill Nase and friend Dr. Herman Sullivan. Besides his father he is survived by his beloved daughter, Trish Appleby, sister, Lynn Appleby both of Saint John; several cousins and his devoted caregivers Peek-A-Boo and Gizmo. Besides his mother he was predeceased by cousin, and best friend, Bill. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, July 13, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2007 from Main Street Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
