Obituary of George LeRoy McMillan

The death of George LeRoy McMillan of 50 Westminster Court, Saint John, husband of 58 years to Thelma M. (Dunphy) McMillan, occurred on Monday, July 16, 2007 at his residence. Born in Lower Millstream, NB, he was the son of the late T. Ambrose and Clara (Hutchins) McMillan. Mr. McMillan was employed with Red Ball Brewery, Olands Brewery and Labatt Brewery retiring as Supervisor in 1990 after 42 years of service and was a former member and past president of Union Local 364. George was an avid reader, bowler and enjoyed playing cards. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, George McMillan (Penny), Debbie Hayes (Carl) both of Saint John, John McMillan (Maureen) of Halifax, NS, Gordon McMillan (Cheryl), Dawn Marie Durley (Bruce) and Crystal Koven (Mark) all of Saint John, one brother, Gerald McMillan (Zita) of Ontario, one sister, Ruth Murray (Harley) of Sussex, 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Bruce and Edward “Buck” McMillan, two brothers, Bud and Edwin McMillan and two sisters, Norma Dunphy and Sis “Clara” Blagdon. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 12:00 Noon. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the IWK Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
