Obituary of Edward James Melanson

The death of Edward James Melanson of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Elsie Agnes (McPhee) Melanson, occurred on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his residence. Born in Saint John on April 23, 1920, he was a son of the late Edward Daniel and Ellen (Jack) Melanson. Edward had been employed until his retirement with the National Harbour Board as Carpenter Foreman. He was a member of the NB Candlepin Bowlers Association, the Milford Memorial Center, the Federal Superannuates National Association and the Golden Age Bowlers Club. Survived by his son, Albert (Evelyn) Melanson of Saint John, NB; a brother, Stanley (Clarice) Melanson of Fredericton, NB; one grandson, Kevin Melanson (Jessica Spalding) of Fredericton; two great-grandsons, Grant and Blake; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Elsie in 1973; two sons, Edward James Jr. and Mark Kenneth. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At Edward’s request there will not be any visiting or funeral service. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 2 pm. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice.
