Obituary of Louis Anthony Costello

The death of Lou Costello of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Verna Mary (Doiron) Costello, occurred on Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lot 65, PEI, he was a son of the late Norbert and Beatrice (Curley) Costello. Lou moved to Saint John in 1962 and began working for Irving Oil, in the North End of Saint John delivering furnace oil. Following his retirement, his passion for antiques took over, buying selling and restoring. Lou was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Church where he had served as an usher. His door was always open to his friends and anyone who needed a helping hand. Lou is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Eric) Doiron of North Rustico, PEI and Judy Costello of Saint John, NB; three brothers, Earl (Marilyn) Costello of Ontario, Lorne Costello of North Rustico, PEI and Austin (Estelle) Costello of Lot 65, PEI; three sisters, Doris (Dick) Doyle of Charlottetown, PEI, Noreen Greenan and Marion (Joe) Fillio, both of Ontario; sister in law Theresa Costello of Rusticoville, PEI; six grandchildren, Abby Watson, Melanie (Jamie) McManaman, Faith Doiron, Matthew (Liz) Doiron, Sarah Doiron and Becky Doiron; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Carson and Madison McManaman and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Verna, brothers, Norbert and Leo, and a sister, Lorraine. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visitation on Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 1-4 and 7-9 pm. Then Mr. Costello will taken to rest at Stella Maris Church, North Rustico, PE for visitation, on Tuesday June 26, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church (PEI) on Wednesday, June 25, 2007 at 2:30 pm. Interment in the adjoining cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests remembrances may be made to the Palliative Care Unit.
