Obituary of Mary Josephine Gallagher

The death of Mary Josephine “Mamie” Gallagher, formerly of Sand Cove Road, occurred on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John she was a daughter of the late John and Helena (Mahoney) Gallagher. Mary graduated from St. Vincent’s Girls High School in 1938 and from the Nurse’s Training School of St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1941 and was employed at the D.V.A. as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and their Legion of Mary, CWL and St. Vincent’s Alumnae. She is survived by sister-in law Ruth Gallagher; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, John, Joseph and Bernard and sister, Joan. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2007 from St. Peter’s Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rocmaura Foundation, Inc would be appreciated.
