Obituary of Edith Mae Mahar

The death of Edith Mae Mahar of the Church of St. John & Stephen Nursing Home, Saint John, occurred on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at her residence. Born in Blacks Harbour, NB on October 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Eva Mae (Borthwick) Stevens. Mae was the Manager of the Rothesay Avenue Deluxe French Fries for many years before her retirement and also was the cook at Caitons Island. She was an active member of Kings Valley Wesleyan Church, had a great passion for cooking and loved to visit and cook for her friends. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by three sons, Donald (Lois), Stephen (Twila) and Wayne (Debbie), two daughters, Lynn Mahar and Hyla Scott (Michele), all of Saint John, four brothers, Murl Stevens of Ontario, Paul Stevens of Petitcodiac, Millard Stevens of Ontario and Frank Stevens of Beaver Harbour, three sisters, Isabell Hill of Blacks Harbour, Edna Bieman of Vancouver, BC and Pauline Craft of Ontario, six grandchildren, Terra, Bonnie, Angie, Teegan, Christopher and Jamie, three great grandchildren, Rebecca, Peanut and Jocelyn and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Jack and five sisters, Audrey, Flora, Sis, Margaret and Bessie. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Kings Valley Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to Caitons Island c/o Kings Valley Wesleyan Church or the Church of St. John & Stephen Nursing Home Van Fund would be appreciated.
