Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" James

James, Margaret “Peggy” – We the family of Peggy James are very sad to announce her death by cancer on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital. Peggy was born in 1948 and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but moved to Saint John in 1970 where she worked and raised her family for more than 30 years. She was a teacher at a number of District 8 Schools: Grandview Ave; for many years at Bayview Elementary, also Princes Elizabeth, Harbour View High School and at Saint John the Baptist. Her Lesson Plans were always complete and thorough and her interest in her students extended over the years to dozens of school athletic teams, school plays, field trips and science fairs. Yet especially it was her personal concern for every child in her charge that she made it her duty to fulfill. Peggy is survived by her husband Paul; sons, Emlyn and his wife, Angela and their son, JohnMarko of Jacksonville, FL, Francis of Saint John, NB; her mother, Peg O’Connor of Sidney, BC; her brothers, James O’Connor and his wife Ann of Esquimalt, BC, David and his wife Mary of Vancouver, BC; and her sister, Frances and Peggy’s good friend, Glen Williams of Sidney, BC. Predeceased by her father Francis O’Connor. To merely say that she will be sorrowfully missed seems to hide the unutterable loss that we feel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424). All friends and colleagues are cordially invited to attend a brief mass and memorial service at St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon St, Saint John, on Wednesday March 5, 2008 at 11am. Interment to take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a reception at St. Peter’s Church. Remembrances made to the Oncology Department at the Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated.
