Obituary of Kathleen Maida Black
The death of Kathleen Maida (Bridges) Black, of St. Martins, NB, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Kay was the wife of the late Hartley Black. Born on December 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Elizabeth (Yeomans) Bridges. Kay was predeceased by brother Roy, sister Anna Moore, her granddaughter Monica Black and infant great-granddaughter. She is survived by sister Thelma Greer, son James Black (Sharon McDonough), daughters Twila Greer (Kent Belding), Bette Ann Chatterton (John), Debra Withers (Malcolm), nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Kay was a long time member of the St. Martins Lodge LOBA # 1190 and the St. Martins United Church UCW. She loved to play 'Bingo' and 'Scramble' and to watch her 'ball games' and 'hockey games' on television. Although Kay had restricted mobility in her later years she enjoyed drives to the 'Fundy Trail' and attending 'Fiddling Concerts' with Hartley. Kay' wit and love are gone but not forgotten. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at 2:00 PM, from St. Martins United Church. Interment will take place at St. Martins Community Cemetery.
