Obituary of John Owen Henneberry
John Owen Henneberry, age 45, died at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 27th 2003, following a short but courageous battle with Systemic Scleroderma. Husband of Beverly (Nicholson) Henneberry, John was born May 7, 1957. He was the son of Harold J. and the late Rita (McInerney) Henneberry. Born and raised in Saint John, John was a graduate of Millidgeville North High School. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from UNBSJ and a Bachelor of Sciences in Electrical Engineering (Computer Engineering) degree from UNB Fredericton. He went on to receive a Master in Business Administration from Columbia University Business School in New York City. He was partner in Henneberry Court Reporting Services with his sister and father. He also enjoyed 'playing the market.' John was active in his community having coached in the North End Little League, for several years and volunteering in several district schools. He served on the Parent School Advisory Committee at Centennial Elementary School as a Community Rep and tutored children in reading. He enjoyed traveling particularly to the Big Apple, reading, music but most especially having lunch with Suz and Dad nearly every day. John will be sorely missed for his generous spirit, endless commitment of time, and unfailing loyalty to his family and friends of all ages. Also survived by his sister Suzanne (Bret Ross), 3 brothers Peter (Faith), Monsignor Brian, and Mark (Jackie). John also had several nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud: Matthew and Jill Henneberry, Jennifer Ross, Dr. Marc Nicholson, Elaine and Michael Nicholson, Stephen and Wendy Nicholson and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Special thanks given by John and his family to the nurses of 4C North, Dave of housekeeping for brightening every day, all of the nurses in SICU especially John's nurses; Patricia Tracey, Tammy Dunnett, Karen Gillet, Kerry Mavor, Debbie Goguen and Kathy Heath; to Dr. Ewa Sadowska, Dr. M. Raju, Dr. John Dornan, Dr. Graham Bishop, Dr. Brian Johnson, Dr. Rob Tingley, Dr. David Bewick, Dr. Allaby, Dr. Michael Barry, Dr. Brian Addie, Dr. Lee, Dr. Sanjay Mehta (visiting specialist from the University of Western Ontario), Dr. Paula Tippett for her many years of care and Dr. Jonathan Kay of Massachusetts General Hospital for ten years of friendship and caring. They all gave only their very best for John. Donations to the Arthritis Society, Extra Mural Nursing, a local food bank, or a local school, would be appreciated. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
