Obituary of Willard Moses McCormick

The death of Willard McCormick of Riley Drive, Saint John, NB occurred on February 25, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Arthur and Marion McCormick and husband of Mona (Storey) McCormick. Willard served in World War II in the Atlantic, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 53 Jervis Bay. After the war he worked for Joseph A. Likely Ltd. for 27 years and then for the Dry Dock (member of the Labour Union Local 900) until his retirement. Willard's hobbies included hunting, deep-sea fishing, clam digging, cribbage, and playing pool. He was also fond of drinking an ice cold Schooner Beer now and again. Besides his wife Mona, Willard is survived by four sons: Harold (Twila) of St. Martins, NB, David (Linda) of Saint John, NB, Robert (Nancy) of Salt Springs, NB, and Michael (Cathy) of Saint John, NB; twelve step-children: Helen, Rose, Irene, Jeannie, Charlene, Bernadine, Brenda, Wendel, Carl, Paul, Gary, and Wayne; one brother, Alex, of England; two sisters: his twin Alice Parsons and Gladys (Clark) Charles both of Weymouth, NS; several grandchildren, great-grand children, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Willard was predeceased by his first wife Gladys (Grant) McCormick; three step-children: Marion, Donnie, and Arthur; two brothers: Arthur and Carl. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, 634-7424, with visitation on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday February 28, 2005 at 2:15 pm. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. A Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held Sunday evening at 7 pm, during visitation. Following the committal service a reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53 Jervis Bay. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
