Obituary of Ernest Reeves Paine

The death of Ernest Reeves Paine, of 219 Ellerdale Street, Saint John, occurred on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Churchville, Pictou County, NS, he was the son of the late E. Victor and Margaret (Reeves) Paine and step-son of the late Frances (McKenzie) Payne. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert H. Paine. As a graduate of Nova Scotia Agriculture College, Mr. Paine found himself at Standard Brands in various positions. In Liverpool, NS, as Plant Manager and in Calgary, AB, as Plant Manager for Dr. Ballard's and Production Manager for Fleischmann's, then to Saint John, NB with T.S. Simms as Divisional Production Manager. Upon Mr. Paine's retirement he enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of his home in Nauwigewauk, NB and later the conveniences of the Loch Lomond Villa Apartment Complex. He is survived by one sister, Florence Parker (Kenneth) of Medford, NS, two nephews, Dr. Paul Parker (Margaret) of Waterloo, ON and Wayne Parker (Joyce) of Medford, NS, two nieces, Joan Hollett (Rev. Derek) of Bathurst, NB and Dr. Ruth Parker of Sydney, NS, seven grand nephews and nieces. Mr. Paine also leaves behind close friends Jan McInnis, Gail Hatty, Peter and Beverly Reid and their children, Simon and Julia. The family requests donations to the charity of the donors' choice. Following cremation interment will take place at Castle Hill Cemetery, McLellan Brook, Pictou County, NS. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
