Obituary of Eileen G. Ormandy

The death of Eileen G. (MacDonald) Ormandy, wife of the late Paige E. Ormandy, occurred on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Sarah (MacCollum) McDonald. During the Second World War, she served in the Naval Control Office, and later pursued a career as a dental assistant. She was the founding member of the first provincial Dental Assistant Association. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother who treasured her home, family and friends. She enjoyed channelling her many creative talents into personal gifts for family and friends, and contributions to the causes she supported. Eileen was a dedicated worker for the youth groups at St. Andrew's Kirk. She founded the Kirk Club there, which later became the St. Andrew's Circle of the King's Daughters and Sons, of which she was a lifelong member. She was a valued worker for the United Church Women at the Church of St. Andrew and St. David, and a volunteer for the Saint John General Hospital Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband Paige; her brother Donald and his wife Charlotte (Beatty) MacDonald; her sister Marion (MacDonald) and her husband David Murray, and her brother Seward MacDonald. She is survived by her daughter Dianne Ormandy; her sister-in-law Jean MacDonald, and several nieces and nephews, including: Lyn (MacDonald) and her husband Cameron Morrison of Halifax; Margot MacDonald of Halifax; Andrew MacDonald of Lunenburg; Brian Murray and his wife Barbara McInnis-Murray of Bedford; Grant MacDonald and his wife Susan McEachern of Dartmouth; Neil MacDonald of Saint John; and several grand nieces and nephews. Eileen is resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where there will be visiting on Sunday, November 21, 2004, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 2:15 p.m. Internment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, followed by a reception at Brenan's Reception Room. Those who wish to give memorial donations are requested by the family to consider the Church of St. Andrew and St. David and the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home or the charity of choice.
