Obituary of Hazel Margaret Few

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hazel Few, wife of the late Douglas Few, announces her passing which occurred on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Hazel was a daughter to the late William and Letitia (Stevens) Harris. Hazel was born in Saint John on February 20, 1930. She moved to North Carolina in 1972 and returned home in 1997. She was the last member of her immediate family. Hazel was employed with the Board of School Trustees in District 20 as well as O’Keefe’s Grocery Store where she worked for over 20 years. Hazel had a green thumb and very much enjoyed spending time in her yard gardening and tending to her flowers. She also took great pleasure in quilting, making many for her family, friends and she often shared her talent by volunteering at the General Hospital making quilts. Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her surviving family, her children: Marilyn Hector, Gregory (Oya) Hector both of Maryland, USA and Ellen (Mark) Thompson of Kentucky, USA, her grandchildren: Lyndsey, Desmond, Alara, and her great grandson Ethan all of the USA, along with several nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Besides her parents and husband Douglas, Hazel was predeceased by her first husband Cecil Hector, her siblings: Donald Stevens, Chris Stewart, Myrtle Stevens, Juanita Hoyt, Inez Niles, Ida Mae Sims, Elizabeth Sims, Harold Stevens and Obrie Stevens. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Tuesday, November 15 from 2 PM – 8 PM. A Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM on Wednesday, November 16 from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
