Obituary of Philip John Burnett

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Philip John Burnett announces his unexpected passing which occurred on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Philip was born on February 9, 1970 and was a son to Robert "Bob" and the late Judith Anne (Palmer) Burnett. Philip spent the last 25 years serving his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Military Transport Specialist. He enrolled in February 1991 and served for the Bases in Cornwallis, Borden, Gagetown, Petawawa and served in three tours overseas. He received two decorations during his time with the RCAF; the General Service Star: South West Asia and the Canadian Forces decoration. Formerly of Camp Borden, he was recently released from his duties with the Military and moved back to Saint John. In his spare time, Philip enjoyed running, sports of any kind, going to the gym faithfully and lending a hand to those who need it. Philip will be missed by his family, his father Bob Burnett, step-mom Dale Burnett, his brother Rob (Randy Richard) Burnett, step-sister Aimee MaGee, paternal grandmother Dorothy Burnett along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. Philip was predeceased by his mother Judith, and his grandparents: John Burnett, and Evelyn and Douglas Palmer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday, July 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Saturday, July 30 at 10-12 followed by a Memorial Service from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place on Wednesday, August 3 at 10 am at Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Last Post Fund or to Canadian Mental Health Saint John.
