Obituary of Donna Marie Ryan

The death of Donna Ryan of Saint John, beloved wife of 57 years to the late John Ryan occurred peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Loch Lomond Villa, surrounded by her family. Born on February 24, 1933 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel (Lockhart) McIntyre. Donna was truly a special person. She was a strong and caring woman, a beloved mother, grandmother and an inspiration for all those close to her. She always treasured the times spent with those she loved and especially looked forward to the times with her grandson, Jonathan and recently was absolutely thrilled to meet her new great-granddaughter, Madeleine. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Donna loved to travel and always held the times spent in Ogunquit, Maine close to her heart. She enjoyed cooking and was excellent at it. Prior to her retirement, Donna had a 43 year career with RBC on King Street; a job she truly enjoyed and where many friendships were made. She will be sadly missed. Donna is survived by her daughter, Kelly Duplisea (Jimmy) of Saint John; treasured grandson, Jonathan Duplisea (Allison) of Halifax; precious great-granddaughter, Madeleine; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Donna was also predeceased by her sister, Barbara Robichaud and brother, Jack McIntyre. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation or the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation.
