Obituary of Lawrence Eric Patterson

It is with heavy hearts that we notify of the passing of Lawrence (Larry)Eric Patterson on August 15, 2016, at 2:28AM at the Regional hospital. He built a beautiful, full life in Rothesay, NB, with his wife of 43 years, Nancy Marie Patterson. He is survived by his daughters Candace Dixon and Rebecca Patterson, and their spouses Marc Dixon and Jeremy Kilpatrick, and his four grandchildren Alexa and Isaac Dixon, Hazel and Sullivan Kilpatrick. He had great love of his nephew and nieces; Aaron, Erica and Melanie. He is predeceased by his mother and father; Doris (Estabrooks) and Ronald Patterson and his sisters, Judith (Judy Macleod) Chapman and Pamela (Pam Chisholm) Keith.‎ He also leaves behind his closest cousin Edwin Patterson and family and his best friend John and his sons Noah and Adam MacLeod, who were like the sons he never had. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Larry was a lifetime member of Wood Lake where he practically grew up and spent innumerable hunting and fishing moments that fed his soul. Larry graduated from the University of New Brunswick with his Bachelor of Business in 1971 and worked hard for the Bank of Nova Scotia, Irving Oil, Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry Dock, where he started into Insurance adjusting and grew into Kent General Insurance, Morden and Helwig, Plant Hope Adjusters, and now Claims Pro where he was a Senior Claims Adjuster. He had an impressive career built by fairness and honor. All relationships in his life were built, forged and maintained through his sheer ability to show how important others were to him in a consistent, loving, trusting, huggable way. Larry was the most amazing, kind, generous, funny man that this world held. It was a better world with him in it. We have all lost with this passing. There once was a little man named Larry, who never was less than merry! Into a true man he became and not one could say he was tame. His jokes were ‎not grated He laughed and loved and joked and joked and joked. I give you this rhyme as he is out of time and it fills my heart with pain because nothing will ever be the same. See you later alligator. Arrangements are in the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 19 at 10 am from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
