Obituary of Julia Rita Olive

Julia "Rita" Olive passed away peacefully on June 23, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by her family. Born in Saint John, on February 24, 1932 she was a daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (George) Tolan. Rita's family had a special place in her heart. She enjoyed spending time in Chapel Grove, and made many lasting friendships through curling, bridge, and as a former Kinette. Rita thoroughly enjoyed her cross border shopping adventures with the girls. Surviving are her children, Beth (John) Ferris; Jeannie (Calvin) Keith; Kathy Olive; Carolyn (Rodney) Conley; John (Carla) Olive; Chrissie (Scott) Spidell; sisters, Shirley Butler; Ebby Frauley; Barb Finlay; grandchildren, Chris (Amber), Meredith, Jaclyn, Megan, David, Erica (Devin), Aaron (Erin), Michelle, Tristan, Tommy (Jolene), Lauren, Julia, Robyn (Joel), Alyson, Sean, Greg, Liz, Mike and Tyler; great grandson, William. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Charles; granddaughter, Jane Spidell; sister, Elizabeth Tolan; two infant sisters; sister-in-law, Margot Ouellette and brothers-in-law, Peter Finlay, Merle Frauley and Ray Butler. The family would like to thank Marjorie Young, (Extramural Hospital), the Palliative Team, Drs. Tutschka and Becker and Fr. Ken Weir for their care and compassion during mom's illness. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 7-9 pm and Monday, June 27, 2016 from 2-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 am from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
