Obituary of Wilfred Harold Christie

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wilfred "Chris" Christie, beloved husband of the late Mary (Price) Christie announces his passing, which occurred with his family by his side on Monday, September 20, 2016 at Embassy Hall - Shannex, Quispamsis. Born on July 4, 1924 in Saint John, he was the adopted son of the late Jim and Mabel Ross. Chris was a well decorated veteran who served in WWII and the Korean War. He held various jobs throughout his life, before retiring from the Corps of Commissioners. Chris always held a special place in his heart for all animals. He loved surrounding himself in the beauty of nature and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. He will be sadly missed. Chris is survived by his daughters, Betty Henry (Duane) of Rothesay and Maxine Hooton (the late Reginald) of Saint John; grandchildren, Tony (Shelley) and Tammy (Jason) all of Rothesay; as well as many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. Besides his parents, wife and son-in-law, he was also predeceased by his sons, Howard "Bud", Edward (Joan) and Ralph Mullen; brothers, Robert, Bill and Charlie and sisters, Peggy and Isabell. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Legion Tribute will take place Sunday at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue, Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
