Obituary of Margaret Eleanor Young

Young, Margaret Eleanor – It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Margaret E. Young announces her passing, which occurred on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice at the age of 94. Born in Saint John on August 13, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Sophie (Gaudet) Gallant and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her loving husband, George L. Young predeceased her in May of 1999. Margaret will be missed by her daughters, Barbara Simms (Gordon), Nancy Friars (the late Peter) and Brenda Young; her grandchildren, Jonathan Friars (Krista), Corey Friars and Patrick Friars (Ashley), Kirk Simms (Lindsay) and Sarah Hewett (Rich); eight great grandchildren; as well as many cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four siblings and her infant son, Stephen. The most important thing in Margaret’s life was her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed her home, pets and daily outings. For many years, she and George were regulars at the community Bingo games. Her family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Mary Jarratt and Cathy, as well as the Extra Mural team for their compassionate care. Our sincere gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Bobby’s Hospice and to Margaret’s cousin, Helen for everything they have done. Special thanks to Samantha Sutton for the companionship and love she showed. She arrived as a caregiver, and became like family. To all who knew her and cared for her along the way, your kindnesses are appreciated and will never be forgotten. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 6-8 pm and Monday, November 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 12:00 pm from St. Joachim’s Church, 603 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to Bobby’s Hospice or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
