Obituary of Theodore Condon

With heavy hearts, the family of Theodore 'Ted' Condon announce his death after a short illness on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. A lifelong Jehovah’s Witness, it was Ted's hope to live on a paradise earth in perfect health. Until that time, he will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. Ted was born to the late Elmer 'Ted' and Myrtle (Carlson) Condon in Highland Grove, ON on January 15, 1948, the 6th of 8 children. He left the family farm in 1967 to work at the Oakville ON post office. In 1970 he left in his newly purchased '61 Chevy for Beloiel, QC where he enjoyed serving in the full-time ministry work of Jehovah's Witnesses with his best friend Jim Leonard. He met the love of his life, Diane Costello, in the summer of 1971 in Montreal. He moved to Saint John, NB and he and Diane were married on September 2, 1972. Their son Sean was born in 1974 and their daughter Angela in 1977. Ted was a devoted husband to Diane, and a wonderful father to his children Sean and Angela. They were the light of his life, as later were his 3 grandchildren; Anabel, Ramona and Mitch. They will all cherish the memories of the hours Ted spent playing with them. A quiet man with a wry sense of humour, an unmistakable laugh and a kind and gentle spirit, Ted was fun-loving, hospitable and always happy. He never complained or had a harsh word for anyone. He loved the family farm, gardening, bird watching and playing with his dog. He always worked hard to provide for his family, even if it meant long hours and getting up at 3 am. Ted looked forward to camping at Fundy National Park with his family every year, canoe trips down the Cains River and family trips to Florida. As a devoted servant of Jehovah, over the years he enjoyed volunteering his time and construction talents to work on Kingdom Hall projects around the Maritimes. Ted is survived by his wife of 44 years (September 2) Diane, his son Sean Condon of Saint John, NB and daughter Angela(Clay) Baughman of St. Catherines de la Jacques Cartier, QC; his grandchildren Anabel, Ramona and Mitch; sisters Arlene Condon, Cheryl(Carl) Askin, Hilda(Ernie) Kerr, and Joyce(Jim) Warren; brothers Thomas(Carol) Condon, and John(Vivian) Condon, and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by his brother Charles. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 14 Elliott Road, Quispamsis. Donations can be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada. Arrangements are in the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424).
