Obituary of Shirley Alice Baxter

Baxter, Shirley Alice – It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Shirley Alice (nee Baxter) on May 29, 2016 at her residence in Willow House, Loch Lomond Village. She was born on November 11, 1934 in Saint John, NB to the late James and Jean (Robertson) Baxter and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the loving wife of the late Gerald Malcolm Baxter who passed away on April 11, 2011. They were married on October 23, 1954 and spent their married life together in Baxters Corner where they raised their family. Shirley was a loving mother to Stephen (Maureen), the late Douglas (Surviving wife Carolyn), Kathy Barton (Keith), David (Kim) and Darryl. Shirley loved and enjoyed her fifteen grandchildren and was blessed with six great grandchildren. Other members of her family included her siblings, the late Wesley Baxter, the late Joyce Baxter (late Donald), the late James Baxter (surviving wife, Verna); brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey Baxter (Eileen), Shirley Rankin (the late Charlie), Carl Baxter (Ruth), Gary Baxter (Shirley) and Wayne Baxter (Kathy) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was a faithful member of All Saints Anglican Church, Loch Lomond. She was a member of the Ladies Group and a former Sunday school teacher. She loved to swim, shop, read, do puzzles and go for drives. She loved to trailer and she and Gerald had many nice vacations together. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family who lived close by. The many memories from their times together will be cherished by all her family forever. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held from Church of Christ the King (St. James Anglican) 2000 Loch Lomond Road on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Shirley will be laid to rest with Gerald at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Church of Christ the King, Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
