Obituary of Gordon Earle Lewis

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gordon Earle Lewis of Saint John, husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Stacey) Lewis, which occurred on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 12, 1932 he was a son of the late Ottie and Florence (Pace) Lewis. Gordon retired from the Dry Dock in 1995. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict as a private in the Army under the 1st BN.RCR. He is survived by his children, Louise (John) Johnston of Saint John; Andrew of Saint John; John (Lisa) of Sussex; Clarence (Susan) of Saint John; Charles (Melinda) of Grand Bay – Westfield, and David of Ontario; nine grandchildren, Kelvin (Angela) and Jeffery (Brittany Daigle) Johnston, Glen, Jennifer, Emily, Sarah, Carrie, Katie and Dominic Lewis; step-granddaughter, Lisa Stacey; two great-grandchildren, Chandler and Laila Johnston; one brother, George Lewis of Saint John; three sisters, Lela Sabean of Hamilton, ON; Violet Lewis of Midland, NB and Eva Quigley of Moss Glen, NB; several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his step-son, Gordon Stacey; two brothers, Clarence and Freeman; three sisters, Hazel Lewis, Muriel Virture and Ruth Nagle. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 7-9 pm and Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
