Obituary of Mary Jane Fanjoy

The unexpected death of Mary Jane Fanjoy, wife of the late Dr. Roy Fanjoy, occurred on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1920 at Bay De Verde, NL to the late Moses and Leah (Porter) Riggs. Mary worked as a Registered Nursing Assistant at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home for many years until her retirement. Mary was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Grand Matron of Fundy Chapel #34, Worthy Grand Matron of New Brunswick and affiliated with the Lord Beaverbrook Chapter #33 Hampton. She was also a life member of the Queen of Nereides Temple # 78 of the Daughters of the Nile and Mother Advisor to the former Order of the Rainbow Girls. Anglican by faith, Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Rothesay. Mary is survived her children, Melvin Fanjoy (Donna) of Dresden, ON, Gordon Fanjoy (Gail) of Foxborough, MA, Judy Lewis of Kensington, PE, Norman Fanjoy (Vicky) of Quispamsis, Lawrence Fanjoy (Elaine) of Quispamsis, and Shirley Fanjoy of Rothesay; grandchildren Juanita, Andrew, Michael, Thomas, Jayde, Trinda, Jenny, Nicole, Joshua, and Meghan; great grandchildren Jaime and Annabelle; brothers Wilfred Riggs and Melvin Riggs (Ruby); and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a brother, William Riggs; and by a sister, Alice Henderson. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
