Obituary of Frances Lorraine Cormier

Frances Cormier of Saint John passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on October 25, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Connell) Bernard. Frannie, as her family calls her, gifted her children and grandchildren and nieces and nephews with her talents as a painter, singer and story-teller. She was inventive, funny and passionate. She had a way of teaching in everything she did. There are so many people who already miss her, but her presence is still felt and evident in her paintings and stories. She is survived by her children, Catherine Elliott (Leslie Arden) of Cookstown, ON, Sandra Turnsek (Mark) of Newmarket ON, and Roger Cormier (Michelle) of Bowmansville NY; grand children Elizabeth and Andrew Turnsek and Mishayla Cormier; a brother, Jack Bernard (Rhoda) of Geary NB, a sister, Donna Richard (Louis) of Saint John; a sister-in-law, Amelia Bernard of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Brothers Thomas and Charles Herbert Bernard predeceased Fran. She also left behind a world of in-law siblings, Corrine Lamb, Barbera Acheson, Lorraine Broderick, Loretta Mego, Rita Jennings, Jeannette Turner, and Eric Cormier, family of her ex-husband, Roger Cormier. We would like to thank Dale Russel, who was Frannie’s "champion." He took great care of her. She is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 2:00pm. For those who wish, the family would appreciate remembrances to the Lung Association.
