Obituary of John Francis Ryan

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Francis Ryan of Saint John, husband of Donna (McIntyre) Ryan, which occurred on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his residence. Born in Barnesville, NB on June 5, 1930, he was a son of the late Arthur and Eunice (Reynolds) Ryan. John was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In his spare time, John enjoyed gardening and watching hockey, never missing his grandson’s games. John graduated from St. Vincent’s Boys High School. He retired from the City of Saint John and previously worked at Ryan Construction for many years. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Donna; his beloved daughter, Kelly (Jimmy) Duplisea and cherished grandson, Jonathan; many nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, John was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph, Clement and Gerald Ryan and Marguerite (Ryan) Slattery. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
