Obituary of Charles H. Lawson

The death of Charles "Charlie" H. Lawson of Saint John NB, husband of late Marion Lawson (Barry), occurred on Sunday October 9, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on January 30, 1917 in Saint John to the late George and Mary (McCafferty) (Best) Lawson. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Saint John. He was a proud member of the ILA Local # 1764, Toronto Local 1869 Checkers and UCT #617. Charles was a life member of Portland United Church and of the Men’s Club of Portland. Charlie is survived by sisters, Ella Oliver and Lydia Keith both of Saint John and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews including Jane and James Barry; their children Susan and Lisa and their granddaughter, Claire. He was predeceased by his wife; parents; brothers, James and Wendell Best; sister, Agnes Stonley (Best) and special friend, Ruth Horton. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visitation on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
