Obituary of Kenneth Raymond Starkey

Kenneth Raymond Starkey passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 25th, 2011 at the age of 96. Son of the late Raymond and Hazel (Lewis) Starkey, he is survived by sons, Carl (Josie) and Gary (Lorna); daughter in law, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Meghan, Brianna, Leanne and Jillian; special friend, Lana Doyle; sisters, Muriel Day of Sussex, Viola (Ken) Parlee of Waterford, NS and Leola Greer of ON. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Audrey; son, Brian; companion, Opal Collings; brother, Leland; sisters, Ethel Seely, Beulah Hourihan, Doll Ferris and Helen Garrett. Ken was a carpenter by trade and drove a school bus. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was known for his love of dancing. His last years were spent at Seeley’s Lodge and touring Grand Bay on his scooter. He touched many people and he will be missed. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Resurrection, Grand Bay –Westfield, on Friday, September 30th, 2011 at 11 am. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
