Obituary of Wayne William Stevens

With his family at his side the death of Wayne Stevens, husband of Sharon Stevens (Bogle) occurred on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 25, 1946, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Jennetta (Mitchell) Stevens. Wayne was employed as a sheet metal worker for the Saint John Dry Dock until an injury forced his early retirement. Music was his second language, he was known for his guitar playing and vocals. Wayne was the lead guitar player and vocalist for "Nitelite"; they played together for years in the Saint John Region. He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly. Wayne had a deep love of family and friends, fondly called "Papa" by his grandchildren. Besides his loving wife Sharon, Wayne is survived by his three sons: David (Susan) of Saint John, Christopher (Debbie) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Jason of Saint John; three daughters: Eleisha Stevens (Robert) of Aurora, ON, Melissa Rhodes (Rob) of Keswick, ON and Lori Mah (Dana) of Saint John; 12 grandchildren: Mackenzie, Conner, Ireland, Liam, Zachary, McKayla, Devin, Matthew, Ryan, Logan, Dylan and Sasha; three brothers: Charles (Blanche), Brian (Anita) and Morgan; five sisters; Phyllis McGinnis, June Dawson, Betty Chambers, Faye Smith and Debbie McIntyre and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers: Kevin, Jimmy, Paul and David and sisters: Shirley Forsyth, Jeanette McNulty, Marjorie McQuinn and Margaret Kozak. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Palliative Care Unit or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
