Obituary of William Francis Evans

William "Bill" Francis Evans of Saint John passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Centre. Born at Saint John on October 11, 1918, he was a son of the late Richard and Mary (Dwyer) Evans. Bill was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked as a longshoreman, and enjoyed carpentry, photography, nature and animals. The last surviving member of his immediate family, Bill was predeceased by his twin brother Gerald, brothers Walter, Arthur and Murray Evans; and by a sister, Marjorie Evans. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as several grand nieces and grand nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff of Ridgewood Veteran’s Centre, who have made a good home for Bill during his stay there. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter's Church on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
