Obituary of Brian William Munroe

Surrounded by his family, the death of Brian Munroe, husband of Mary Ellen (Stewart) Munroe occurred on April 24, 2011 at Bobby’s Hospice House. He was born on April 28, 1946 in Toronto, ON to the late William and Lois (McColm) Munroe. Brian was a well respected Bank Manager for TD Bank for many years. In his retirement Brian enjoyed his work at Revenue Canada, as well as working together with Mary Ellen on their "retirement" project, Goosedown Cottage. He was a past member of the Rothesay Kinsmen Club. In his free time Brian enjoyed golf, auction hunting, slow pitch and family get togethers. He was an avid & meticulous gardener, his properties always being admired by all who saw them. Brian enjoyed vacationing with his family, early on in the Carribean, and in later years, the annual family vacation on the Tobique River. Besides his wife of over 43 years, Mary Ellen, Brian is survived by two sons: Steven (Connie) of Noonan and Stewart (Glenda) of Rothesay; three grandchildren: Kehlan, Connor and Ryland, sister-in-law Jean Gregory of Quispamsis and brother-in-law Don Hart (Val) of Port Dover, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Chris. The Munroe family would like to thank Dr. Chris O’Brien and all the caregivers at Bobby’s Hospice House for their excellent care and wonderful sense of humour, during such a difficult time. We are so lucky to have such a great facility like Bobby’s House in Saint John—it’s truly a home away from home. Mary Ellen would like to thank Dr. Lisa Sutherland and her staff for their support, to her during Brian’s illness, it was truly appreciated. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A private funeral service for family and close friends will be held from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Quispamsis Rd, Quispamsis, NB on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice House would be appreciated by the family.
