Obituary of Anna Kessler Barteau

After a long and fulfilling life, the death of Anna Barteau, wife of the late Philip L. Barteau occurred at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. She was born on May 25, 1924 at Valhalla, New York to the late Amelia Kessler. Anna was a dedicated wife and mother; she devoted her life to her family. She was a member of Women’s Missionary Society, Leonardville Women’s Institute, Leonardville Church of Christ and Deer Island Senior’s Group. Anna also wrote the column for Deer Island in the St. Croix Courier for many years. She was an avid reader and loved circleword/crossword puzzles, bingo, bird watching and traveling. Anna will always be remembered as the glue that held her family together, hosting the whole family for dinner every Sunday and Holidays. She is survived by her four children: Donna Green (Bryant) of Fairhaven, Harley (Joyce) of Leonardville, Gail Martin (Wayne) of Fairhaven and David (Sharon) of Leonardville; twelve grandchildren: Leigh, Derek (Natalie), Scott, Jeff (Sarah), Jamie (Angela), Jocelyn (Marcus), Jessica (Stuart), Amber, Adam (Kris), Ryan (Shayna), Robyn (Corey) and Matthew (Maria); eighteen great grandchildren: Tiffany (Robbie), Oliver, Emma, Kathleen, Lily-Anna, Lauren, Noah, Reid, Olivia, Kimberley (George), Darcy, Bayley, Chloe, Asher, Haylee, Rylan, Caleb and Olivia; two great-great grandchildren: Brady and Christopher. Besides her mother and her loving husband Philip who passed away in 1989, she was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Calder in 1992 and her great grandson, Tony Green in 2006. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will be held from Fairhaven United Baptist Church, Calders Head Road on Friday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, from where the funeral service will be on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery, Lord’s Cove, NB. A reception will follow in the Fairhaven Church Hall following the interment. For those who wish remembrances to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
