Obituary of Gladys Eleanor Neill

G. Eleanor Neill of Saint John, wife of the late A. Trevor K. Neill, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on September 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Alice (Cody) Clarke. In her younger years, Eleanor worked as a teletypist for Canadian National Railways. Eleanor and Trevor were well known in many Saint John churches as a husband and wife team who played organ and piano together, and were inducted into the New Brunswick Gospel Music Hall of Fame. She had attended Rothesay Baptist Church for the last number of years. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Janice Craig and her husband Lloyd of Quispamsis; a granddaughter, Katelynn Craig and her fiancé Lee Everett of Fredericton; a sister, Ruth Elderkin of Wolfville, NS; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband who predeceased her on March 16, 2010, Eleanor was also predeceased by a sister, Lillian Arthurs. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Rothesay Baptist Church on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
