Obituary of Murray Malcolm Northorp

Murray Malcolm Northorp of Saint John, husband of Theresa Lorraine (Lanigan) Northorp, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on April 3, 1932, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Malcolm) Northorp. Murray was employed with Irving Pulp and Paper and then Irving Paper for 43 years, retiring as supervisor of the Ground Wood Department. He was a member of the St. Croix Country Club in Calais, Maine, and enjoyed his trailer at Pleasant Lake in Alexander, Maine for many years. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Murray is survived by his daughters, Natalie Northorp, Christine Northorp, and Margaret Raymond, all of Saint John; grandchildren Kelly and Greg Raymond; a sister, Eleanor Dupèré (Adrian) of Saint John; a sister-in-law, June Northorp of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by a sister, Jacqueline Noftell; brothers Robert and Carl Northorp; and a son-in-law, Michael Raymond. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Saturday at 10:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
