Obituary of Charles Kenneth Quigley

Surrounded by his family, the death of Charles Quigley, husband of Eva (Lewis) Quigley occurred at the Kings Way Care Centre on Saturday, September 17, 2011. He was born on April 16, 1920 at Saint John, NB to the late John and Margaret (Mitchell) Quigley. Charles was a transport driver for many years with Day & Ross. Known as "the grandfather of trucking", he worked tirelessly to support his family, always returning home in the evening to be with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Eva; eleven children: Douglas (Wanda), Lorraine Reid, William, Judith Price (John), Linda Robinson (George), John (Beth), James (Lynn), Janet Chiswell (Paul), Richard (Debby), Valerie Marshall (Robert) and Patricia Marr (Brian); 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, son, Charles Jr.; five brothers: Frank, Harry, Raymond, John and Willard; 6 sisters: Della, Marion, Violet, Nellie and two infant sisters and two grandchildren: Anthony Robinson and Karen Quigley. Charles was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Salvation Army, Kings Way Care Centre or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
