Obituary of Reginald Emile Olsen

Reginald Emile Olsen of Saint John, husband of the late Hilda Mae (Furrow) Olsen, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 14, 2011 at his residence. Born at Bedford, Nova Scotia on July 8, 1924, he was a son of the late Ole Emile Olsen and Effie Lucinda (Wambolt) Olsen. Reg worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for 38 years, working as a car man and a crane operator. He was an active member of Crescent Valley Gospel Centre, where he served as an Elder and a Deacon. He was a Veteran of World War II, and enjoyed gospel music. Reg is survived and much loved by his daughter, Rose Ann Oland of Hampstead; his son, Anthony "Tony" Olsen of Saint John; grandchildren Chris Ford of British Columbia, Tracy Connors (Jim), Melanie, Jeffrey, and Jason Olsen, all of Saint John; great grandchildren Aeryn Ford, Megan, Ryan, and Jonathan Connors; a brother, Oscar "Ted" Olsen of Saint John; a brother-in-law, Douglas Walker of Garnett Settlement; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Reg was predeceased by a son-in-law, George "Chuck" Oland; a daughter-in-law, Joy Olsen; a brother, Henry Olsen; and a sister, Shirley Walker. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 and 17, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Crescent Valley Gospel Centre, 500 Somerset Street, on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
