Obituary of Charles Donald Wilcox
WILCOX, Charles Donald (Three Day Charlie) Charles Donald Wilcox, husband of the late Violet Mae (Shaw) Wilcox, passed away on September 1st, 2011, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS on August 3, 1930. He grew up in Boston in his early years, and held both American and Canadian citizenship. He eventually set his home in Saint John. He was the son of the late John "Hap" and Kathleen "Peggy" (Wilkins) Wilcox. Charlie worked for Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry-dock for 17 years, and numerous construction companies across North America as a Millwright for 30 plus years. He was also the owner of Wilcox Television Repairs for over 40 years that he ran during and in between his other jobs. Charlie was larger than life, with a robust sense of humor that will be greatly missed. Highly opinionated- "He said what he meant; and meant what he said", and we all loved him for it. He is survived by his son John (Theresa) Wilcox, daughter Judy (Jeff) Gallop, Sister Dianne Lavalle of Kentucky, and grandchildren David and Matthew Wilcox. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 3-8 pm. Our father was a hard working, down to earth man. He would look forward to you coming. Don’t worry about a shirt and tie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, on Tuesday at 11:00am. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Parkinson Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be placed at www.brenansfh.com
