Obituary of Constance Theresa Flecknell

It is with great sadness that the family of Connie Theresa Flecknell announces her passing on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Connie was born on May 26, 1925 in Saint John to the late Arthur and Ellen (White) McHugh. She was the wife of the late Vesey J. Flecknell. In her youth, Connie was an avid speed skater and one of her prized possessions was her speed skates which she paid for herself. During the Second World War, Connie worked producing ammunition boxes for the war effort in Saint John. Connie loved to play Bingo and Darts and won many individual and team trophies. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jervis Bay Legion, Branch 53. Connie spent her life raising her large family. She was a devoted Mother and Armed Forces wife of 56 years. She is survived by eight children: Pat Flecknell (Karen), Burlington, ON, Lynda Foggoa (Wayne), Dartmouth, NS, Gail Braman (Jim), Raymore, SK, Terry Flecknell (Nancy), Canning, NS, Mary Boucher (Tom), Cole Harbour, NS, Judith Flecknell-Williams (Jeff), Tatamagouche, NS, Gerald Flecknell, Saint John, Joan Flecknell (Diane), Victoria, BC; daughter in-law, Donna Carter of Saint John NB; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters: Barb Weir, and Irene Cook, both of Saint John, NB and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vesey; daughter, Ellen Anderson; infant son, Arthur; three sisters and nine brothers. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Church of St. John St. Stephen Home Palliative Care Unit or any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
