Obituary of Murray George Winchester

It is with sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Murray George Winchester, husband of the late Edith (Sweet/McLaughlin) Winchester, which occurred at his residence in Darlings Island on June 7, 2011. He was born in Saint John on June 5, 1939, son of the late Marion and William Winchester. Murray was a Fireman and retired from The Saint John Fire Department with the rank of Captain in 1997. He was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Saint John, a former choir member and a volunteer with the Loaves and Fishes Outreach Program at the Church. He is survived by his son, Mark Winchester of Fredericton; step-son, Patrick McLaughlin (Jocelyn) of Hampton; step-daughter, Karen Carvell (David) of Oromocto; and a granddaughter, Crystal; brother, Dawson Winchester (June) of St. Thomas, ON; sister, Lois Kingston (the late Malcolm) of Saint John; nephews, John, Jeffery, James and Joe Winchester all of Ontario and Gregory and Stephen Kingston of Saint John, along with several cousins and a special caregiver, Kelly Reuvekamp. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Eileen Irish conducting the service. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Saint John West. Remembrances may be made to St. Luke’s Church Outreach Program, the Stan Cassidy Rehab Centre in Fredericton or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
