Obituary of Florence Edna Wilson

Florence Edna Wilson of Saint John, wife of the late Gideon A. Wilson, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Shannex Parkland in Quispamsis. Born in Saint John on January 13, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Frederick W. and Bertha E. Pyke. Florence lived most of her life in Saint John. She was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Lakewood. She and her husband Gid enjoyed many happy times with the Couples’ Club. Florence was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star: a Life Member of Devon Chapter # 37, Fredericton, Lord Beaverbrook Chapter # 33, Hampton, and Past Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of New Brunswick. Florence and Gid had many fond memories of their travels and time spent with their Eastern Star friends. Florence was a 50 year member of the former Lady Ashburnham Circle of the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons. She held executive positions in the Saint John City Union and Provincial Branch. She was also a former member of the Nereides Temple of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading, and playing cards with her friends, but her greatest joy was her family, and especially her three grandchildren and her great grandson, Owen. Florence is survived by her daughter, Dianne E. Belyea (Eric) of Rothesay; granddaughter Amanda J. Belyea (Jim McNeice) of Tralee, Ireland; grandsons Andrew E. Belyea (Dawn) of Rothesay and Michael Belyea of South Korea; and her pride and joy, great grandson Owen Belyea and step great granddaughters Lily and Allison. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 3-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. James Anglican Church (Lakewood), 2000 Loch Lomond Road, on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to St. James Anglican Church (Lakewood), the Shriner’s Transportation Fund, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
