Obituary of Emily Louise Cannon

The death of Emily Louise (Hunt) Cannon, wife of the late Gordon V. Cannon, occurred on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Kennebec Manor. She was born on May 21, 1926 in Saint John to the late James and Clara (Carpenter) Hunt. Emily was a nurse; she practiced at the General Hospital, Provincial Hospital, Rocmaura Nursing Home and retired from the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home. She is survived by two sons: Clive (Kim) of Fredericton and Eric (Judy) of Saint John; two daughters: Karen Haines (Terry) of Fredericton and Darlene Proctor (Stephen) of St. Martins; one brother: Donald (Jane); one sister, Nina Stevens; ten grandchildren: Mike (Lynn), Craig, Christie (Joe), Jennifer (Matt), Sarah (Scott), Jeffrey (Melissa), Christopher (Andrea), Danny (Shannon), Gordie and Shawn; six great-grandchildren: Jacob, Hudson, Allison and Austin; Lucas, Katie and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Emily was predeceased by six brothers: Vernon, William, Charles, Gerald Leonard and Robert; half-brother, James; four sisters: Claira Hunt, Hazel Hammond and Dorothy Hubbard, Gladys Langille and two half-sister, Mary Beshara and Viola Dignard. To honour Emily’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A private graveside service will be held in Field of Honour at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation, Alzheimer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
