Obituary of James Walter Kemp

It is with broken hearts that the family of James Walter Kemp, husband of M. Inez (Wall) Kemp, announces his passing after a lengthy illness on Saturday, December 18, 2010 with his entire family by his side. He left this world, but not our hearts. He was born on September 1, 1937 at Saint John to the late James and Mary Elizabeth (Pitre) Kemp. Jim attended St. Mary’s University and had a lengthy career with Irving Paper for 30 years. He also was a member and chairman of the Saint John Transit Commission, as well as an active supporter and member of the Liberal Party. His great organizational skills and attention to detail were huge assets in his career, and any goal that he wanted to achieve. Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fly tying, boating and gardening. He was proud of his family, and his family was proud of him. Jim will be forever remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Inez, along with his children: Brian (Ana) Kemp, Karen Kemp, Beth Kemp, and Joanne (Chris) Neil. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Sabrina (Joey), Jacqueline, Alexandria, Luke, Matthew, Sean and Matthew, along with his great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Hart) Steeves of Ottawa, Judy Ellis of Saint John, Margaret (Albert) Guay of Saint John, and his brother, Gerald Kemp of Fredericton. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Animal Rescue League or Hospice Greater Saint John would be greatly appreciated by the family.
