Obituary of Genevieve Barry Alward

Unexpectedly the death of Genevieve Alward, wife of the late William "Beck" Alward, occurred on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on January 14, 1933 at Saint John to the late Joseph and Amy (Parks) McInerney. Genevieve worked for Calp’s Department Store for many years, retiring as the office manager, then became Mr. A. Calp’s personal assistant until her retirement. She is survived by three daughters: Lorraine Crawley (George) of Saint John, Colleen Hamilton (Robert) of Quispamsis and Cathy Thibodeau (Gary) of Upper Golden Grove; eight grandsons: Michael and Mark Crawley, Kevin, Trevor, Jeffery and Matthew Hamilton and Barry and Paul Thibodeau; seven great grandchildren; Sebastian, Sophie, Alex, Adam, Annabel, Liam and Kaito; sister in law, Ina McInerney; brother in law, Winnie Young and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; brother, Kenneth and sisters; Audrey and Doreen. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held from St. James Lakewood Church on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 11:00am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
