Obituary of Raymond Earle Armstrong

The death of Raymond Earle “Bing” Armstrong of Saint John West, husband of the late L. Phyllis (Hickman) Armstrong, occurred on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton Junction, NB, he was a son of the late Byron and Julia (Sambles) Armstrong. He was employed with Maritime Employers Association as a Contract Administrator until his retirement. Raymond was a Veteran of World War II, Past President of the Kings County P.C. Riding Association, was a member of Shriners Luxor Temple, he coached N.E.L.L. Baseball for 35 years. He was active in the Home and School Association locally and provincially for many years, as well as the Westfield Recreation Association. He enjoyed reading and was a big fan of the New York Yankees. Raymond is survived by his children, Sandra Gibbons (Chuck), Richard Armstrong (Lynda), Deborah Armstrong, Judy Wilkins (Steve), Phil Armstrong (Jan) all of Saint John; Wayne Armstrong (Judith) of Morrisdale, Chris Donner (Robert) of Woodman’s Point, Pam Bonar (Gerard) of Fredericton; fifteen grandchildren, Dean, Tammy, Greg, Geoff, Trish, Scott, Trevor, Emily, Matthew, Evan, Jason, Jennifer, Ashley, Craig and Michael; six great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; many cousins nieces and nephews, sisters, Inez Adams and Bertha Anderson. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by sisters, Florence Doucette, Isabel Green and Burla Mason. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, November 9, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 319 Lancaster Street, Saint John West on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Saint John Free Public Library, P.R.O. Kids or a charity of the donor’s choice. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held on Monday at 7:30 pm.
