Obituary of Malcolm P Winchester

Malcolm Percival Winchester passed away peacefully on February 12, 2009 in Keirsteadville, NB, at the age of 86. Born in Saint John on July 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Burkett N. (Burt) and Annie (Peters) Winchester. Malcolm was educated in Saint John and was the Assistant Manager at Colwell’s Grocery in Renforth until his retirement in 1987. He was a life long member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Saint John. He enjoyed hunting ducks and deer as well as fishing trout and salmon. He spent many days each year at his camp on the Washademoak Lake. Each year he entertained close friends on opening day of hunting season. Malcolm was an avid golfer and past member of Riverside Country Club. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Saint John Flying Club where he earned his license. Malcolm is survived by a brother Maurice Winchester of Saint John and a sister Dorothy Conley of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: Clair, Gordon, Vincent, Richard, Louis, Hunter and Joseph; and by his sisters, Constance Williams and Marion McDevitt. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424). At Malcolm’s request there will be no visiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Church, Clarendon Street, Saint John. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
