Obituary of Freda Glenn Cameron

CAMERON, Freda Glenn … It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Freda Cameron on February 16. Freda was born on May 9, 1923 in Hibernia, N. B. to the late Winnifred Gladys (Palmer) and Fred W. Cameron. The family lived in Queenstown when Freda was a child and later moved to Saint John. Freda was a vivacious, vibrant person who loved to dance but was stricken with polio at the young age of 17. Except for her early years, Freda lived her entire life in Saint John. She worked as a receptionist at the Children’s Hospital School and prior to that, had done secretarial work for her father who was in the lumber business. Upon moving to Loch Lomond Villa High Rise in the early 1970’s, she worked for a time as a receptionist in the front office of the Villa. Freda loved people and was kind and generous to a fault. She was an adherent of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and attended regularly until the last eight years during which time she was a resident of the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home. During her active years as a parishioner of the Adventist Church, she was very involved in the citrus fruit campaign. She was very fond of the staff at the Villa and it was reciprocated. Freda was predeceased by her parents, brother Arthur, and sister Helen McIntosh. She is survived by sisters, Greta, Marg (Don) DeLong, Donna (Ray) Lloyd and brother, Lawrence (Betty), several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. The family is extremely grateful to the staff of the Villa for their exemplary care and kindness to Freda during her stay there. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Donations may be made to Hospice of Greater Saint John or to a charity of the donor’s choice. www.brenansfh.com
