Obituary of Ivy Lord

LORD, IVY- The death of Ivy Lord of Saint John, wife of the late Roy T. Lord, occurred on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Nottingham, England on September 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Hayes) Habgood. Ivy was employed at Woolworth’s and the Lantic Sugar Refinery for many years before her retirement. She was an avid curler and represented New Brunswick in Provincial Ladies Curling and Senior Ladies Curling. She was a member of Thistle St. Andrew Curling Club, the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #14 and Branch #64, St. Luke’s Anglican Church and enjoyed her summers at Hardings Point. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Buckland (David) of Quispamsis and Dorothy Durning (Robert) of Saint John, one sister Verna Kortz of Kenora, ON, sisters-in-law, Marion Lord of Acamac and Dulcie Richards of Kenora, ON, five grandchildren, Deborah Green (Peter), Kimberly Durning (Edwin), Patricia Johnson (Stephen), Peter Buckland (Judy) and Michael Buckland, seven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and special caregiver, Gloria. She was predeceased by her first husband, Royden Charles Magee and two brothers, John Habgood and Frank Richards. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Kidney Foundation or the UCT Training Center would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion-Auxiliary will hold a tribute service on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
