Obituary of Rita Marion Short

The death of Rita Marion Short, wife of the late John K. Short, occurred on December 17, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha 'Ann' (Kennedy) McCarthy. She was employed with Red Rose Tea until her retirement. She loved to play Bingo. She is survived by her son George K. and his wife Rose of Saint John, her brother Ronald McCarthy of Saint John, her sisters Helen MacDonald of Saint John, her sister Connie and her husband Ray Grastal of Caslow, BC, Joan Anderson of Saint John, Christina LaVallee of Saint John, Catherine Cole of Saint John, her grandchildren Peter and Michelle, her great grandchildren Evan and Matthew and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John McCarthy, her sisters Margaret Martin, Muriel Grastal and Frances Rossiter and her great-grandson Brady. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2002, at 10:00 AM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. www.brenansfh.com
