Obituary of Janet Joan Ross

The death of Miss Janet Joan Ross, of 310 Woodward Avenue, Saint John, occurred on Saturday, January 4, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 17, 1909, she was the daughter of the late David and Isabella (Graham) Ross. Joan came to Canada in 1910, she lived and grew up in Rothesay, graduating from Rothesay Consolidated School, in 1927. She entered Nurses training at the Saint John General Hospital and graduated with her Nursing Degree in 1930, and went on to study at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in New York City. Joan did private duty nursing in the Saint John area until her retirement in 1980. She was an active member of Carleton Kirk United Church for many years and later Portland United Church and was a life member of the Charlotte County Historical Society. She is survived by her close friends, Harold and Helen Mayes of Saint John, two nieces, Janet Duplissie (William) and Anne Mollet (Robert), one nephew, Douglas Ross, all of British Columbia, four grand nieces and two grand nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Hugh and Graham Ross. By request of Joan, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. Memorial Service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 2:15 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery.
